Dile adios a los labios resecos y agrietados!

Say goodbye to dry, chapped lips!

Lips lack sebaceous glands, making them more susceptible to dryness and chapping. Both sun exposure and lack of humidity in the air mean they require extra hydration to prevent drying out.

Why are my lips so dry?

There are many factors that can cause our lips to become dry, including external factors such as wind, dry air, solar radiation, exposure to temperature changes, and the application of lipsticks and glosses (especially those containing alcohol), as well as internal factors such as hormonal changes, the use of certain medications like those containing vitamin A, retinoids, etc., mouth breathing, low water intake, smoking, and drinking alcoholic beverages.  Vitamin deficiency, among other causes. To help your lips recover, it's recommended to drink plenty of fluids, especially water, and apply moisturizing products, avoiding licking them as much as possible, since this will only worsen the situation.

How to prevent dryness?

1. Hydrate them, drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to keep your skin hydrated, including your lips; water provides multiple benefits to your entire body.

2. Moisturize them; consistency plays a key role in facial care. One of the most practical ways to moisturize your lips is to apply lip balm morning and night. In just a few days, your lips will be renewed and soft. Another effective way to moisturize your lips is to place cucumber slices on them. Due to its high water content, it's an excellent hydrator, and it also contains vitamin C , which helps with collagen production. This will soothe and moisturize your lips immediately. Aloe vera is a great moisturizer and regenerator that can help them recover quickly.

3. Exfoliate them, exfoliate your lips once or twice a week to remove dead cells (do not exfoliate if your lips are irritated).

4. Avoid wetting them with saliva. If your lips are constantly burning, avoid biting or licking them, as this only increases dryness. You can relieve the burning sensation by applying emollients and antioxidants with softening properties, such as coconut oil, which contains vitamin E, and has great astringent and calming properties.

5. Eat properly; diet plays a key role since a lack of vitamins such as niacin (Vitamin B3), contained in foods such as beef, chicken, fish or nuts, could cause your lips to become dry.

What to use to moisturize lips?

Oils have the property of deeply moisturizing your lips. Simply apply one or two drops of oil to your lips.

Among the recommended oils to hydrate, moisturize and regenerate the skin of your lips are olive, avocado, coconut and almond oils, as they contain active ingredients such as vitamin E and fatty acids, which are very beneficial in the recovery of your lips.
